Getting to know each other

On Saturday my friends Molly and Nina came over with their little tators Juliet and Finola and Rubycakes. The idea was to run around in the garden and play with the chickens and then eat some lunch.

What’s over there?

 So while Juliet was fearlessly feeding the chickens her blueberries, Finola was fearlessly grazing the strawberry patch like a true champ. It did my heart good to see some fruit go into a human belly too.

the girls are learning to feed the ladies

I just LOVE the wonder and awe of children in the garden. They love it all and could care less about bugs and weeds and such, they just want to eat what is there to eat, poke at what can be poked at and laugh at everything else. Arent they beautiful? Nina put more pictures on her blog here

SO FUNNY!

no i am not karating chopping my chicken

Now that i have placed myself on a very strict budget, I seem to get more done around the house..funny how that happens!

This weekend I spent most of my time working in the yard. It was great and i got a lot done. The BEST part of the weekend was that the girls discovered a world outside of the garden. I discovered this by seeing this;

It seemed as if they were saying OH so this is where you are. Can we join you? I panicked for a moment because behind them were the 2 dogs and 2 cats and i had never had  the dogs interact so closely. They were all rockstars! Everyone is living in harmony at this point and with their wings clipped i feel a little more comfortable. Arent they funny?

After that i snapped some great shots of my lovely kitty, geeze can you say split personality?

And when my friend Denise came over to sew with me, Kudra refused to let things progress

Poor Denise is deathly allergic to cats, of course!

Then i started to snap pictures of my garden. it is August and things are still pretty small but i hope by September i will have lots of things to eat!!

And the flowers

And Finally, i finished my pillows! All 6 of them are randomly different because i tried several different patterns to see which one was the easiest and fastest. I think the top 3 worked out the best. Now while i watch the Olympics I will win a medal in pillow finishing..um yea
